For those of you who came across this map by chance and don’t know us, we are a young startup, with limited resources, which nonetheless strongly believes in open data; this is why last January we started the pro-bono initiative #MondayMaps, and every Monday we either: 1) take a dataset we find on the web and show it on a simple and intuitive map for the benefit of the citizens, or 2) where no dataset exists, if we believe the data could be useful for the citizens, we make one and publish it as opendata.
Today we dedicate our #MondayMap to #startups like us and to the “Monday’s Infodata” project of the main economic newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
The map represents the Innovative Startup Companies on the total of corporate entities.
Since last April 13th the economic newspaper Il sole 24 ore picks up some infondata visualizations from its Infodata blog and publishes them on the printed version with an initiative called “Monday’s Infodata“.
This Monday the infondata was dedicated to startups and patents (link), with some infondata visualization taken from the data shared by the Italian Ministry for Economic Development (Ministero dello sviluppo economico: Dati Startup Ministero Sviluppo Economico).
Since amongst the pretty visualizations from Infodata Blog a real interactive MAP was missing, we decided to task ourselves with doing it, and by doing so to dedicate a tribute to the twin (…we wish!) initiative of our #MondayMap.
